A Rustic Destination Wedding in Umbria, Italy

So back in 2019 I shot my last destination wedding before the pandemic happened - it feels like so long ago but I also remember it all so vividly - the scenery, the weather, the food, of the FOOD! I've never quite experienced such deliciousness in a mere few days. This was my first time visiting Umbria and the views absolutely took my breath away on the drive over from Ancona airport. We checked in at the gorgeous Villa Valentina Spa which was rustic and charming. Some of the guests were at the hotel also, ready for the wedding the following day.

The wedding venue is just outside of Umbertide, which is relatively un-touristy, so it was great to explore the town the day before the wedding and try some of the local dishes (and wines)

On the morning of the wedding, we drove up hill for around 15 minutes to the wedding venue - Abbazia San Faustino which, although recently renovated, still holds all the old and historic charm that is so deeply rooted within. It was a beautifully warm September day, and although it rained a little bit during the outdoor ceremony, I think the dramatic skies just added to the absolutely stunning backdrop of endless rolling hills as far as the eye could see.

Rebecca looked absolutely stunning in her lace gown, designed by Miss Stella York, supplied by the Tailor’s Cat Bridal store. Aldo wore a custom suit, which he looked incredibly dapper in, by Swatch to Suit.

The whole day from start to finish made me feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to capture such beauty, creativity, and most importantly the love between the couple and their respective families and friends.

I am super lucky that I get to return to Italy later on this year to shoot a wedding, this time in the Puglia region. If you're looking for a destination wedding photographer for Italy then please get in touch to tell me more about your plans!
